I just came across a project where a suite in a building has two floors and is sprinklered by two zones. The building is designed to NFPA 13R and has 4 stories, but on the 3rd floor there are two suites that have two floors. The principle entrance is on the lower level (3rd floor) and there is no access to the suite from the higher level (4th floor). The sprinklers are designed is suck a way that the lower level is fed from the 3rd floor zone and the higher level is fed from the 4th floor.
So my question is should the higher floor be on the same zone as the lower level or is this configuration ok?
