For a transformer, 450.14 states that where the primary disconnect is remote, it is to be lockable per 110.25 and the location field marked. For a large building (500K-1M Sqft), is there a code limit to this distance? If so, is it voltage specific?
Apparently there is none. If it was my install, I would put a disconnect within sight. I just would. It's one of those things.
I pulled it up in the 2020 just now and they did add one interesting little word, the word "open"
"450.14 Disconnecting Means.
Transformers, other than Class 2 or Class 3 transformers, shall have a disconnecting means located either in sight of the transformer or in a remote location. Where located in a remote location, the disconnecting means shall be lockable open in accordance with 110.25, and its location shall be field marked on the transformer."
