Shall the smoke detectors in multi-family building ( individual units) to be connected to the building fire alarm system? if yes or no what's is the code section?
NFPA 72 22.214.171.124 adresses this, however, local AHJ can dictate differently. Because of nuisance alarms from cooking, the alarm is within the unit. For one project, the units had sprinklers and corridor smoke detectors that activated the central system along with other items. Individual alarms also reported to an attended location.
Thanks for your prompt response. Also I found the that Per IBC 907.2.11.3 Where more than one smoke alarm is required to be installed within an individual dwelling unit or sleeping unit in Group R or I-1 occupancies, the smoke alarms shall be interconnected in such a manner that the activation of one alarm will activate all of the alarms in the individual unit
