Can we connect electric Siren with fire alarm system????
Why? If an existing approved fire alarm system, is it voice or 'horn'? Adddressible system? You can add annunciation but need to consider battery and voltage drop and have it designed, approved, and inspected.
Thanks for your reply with supportive answer.
Actually one of our client want to install seperate manufacturer electric Siren to alert whole facility to connect with other company's fire alarm system, as i know the issue is code compliance, we can't connect any other type device with fire alarm system.
Now need your support per NFPA reference showing that its allowed or not allowed.
I am still not understanding exactly what you want to do. Please see NFPA 101-188.8.131.52 and NFPA 72 184.108.40.206 (the same signals are not required, but preferred) and 18.4.2 requiring them to be distinctive. Any fire alarm changes need to be approved by the AHJ. Suggest calling the area fire marshall.
Sure - A fire alarm system should be able to activate a siren by interfacing it as long as the required other alarms that are directly wired to the system comply with NFPA 72. This way the siren does not have to listed equipment for use in the fire alarm system. The extra noise will surely be noticed.
