I currently have a type 5B podium building under construction in my area. It is 3 stories with retail on the 1st floor and residential on the 2nd and 3rd floors. The building will be fully sprinklered with a 13 system. While the building does not require a standpipe by the height, it is 330 feet in length. The design team has agreed to a standpipe in each stairwell on the 2nd and 3rd floors, however they are resisting a third connection in the corridor as the distance is 240 feet between the stairwell connections and our companies carry 150 feet of 1 3/4 inch hose in their standpipe bags. Any suggestions to persuade them besides relying on the AHJ requirements.
