Design criteria CMDA solid pile up to 3.6 m

Question asked by vantoniou on Feb 4, 2020

Hi, I need some advice regarding the categorization and the design criteria for CMDA sprinklers of solid pile Class I to IV  storage up to 3.6 m (the building is a warehouse). The issue is that in NFPA 13 2016 edition one could go with the criteria of miscellaneous storage or low piled storage  (table 13.2.1.) but NFPA 13 2019 edition does not allow that since it introduces some new restrictions regarding what is considered to be miscellaneous storage while it mentions only the case of low piled storage that is on solid shelf racks.  At the same time, NFPA 13 2019 edition sets design criteria for  CMDA sprinklers of solid pile Class I to IV  storage above 3.6m (figure 21.2.2.1)  and does not clearly mention anything about below that storage hight. Thank you in advance.
