Using SLC module to trip Communicator

UL 864 (in section 54) has very stringent requirement for the use of the alarm contact to trigger central station communication method and not a control module on the SLC.   This is due to a requirement for the action to happen specifically by the executive programming and not through user programmable logic.       Does anyone know if NFPA 72 has similar language?    Does NFPA 72 permit tripping a DACT, two way radio, etc by SLC modules instead of using the FACP alarm contact?       I know there are other means / technologies to accomplish this, however this question is specifically referring to using the alarm contact vs an SLC module.

Thanks!
