i am asking about minimum height of beam detector installation inside store for saving documents?as per nfpa
Follow manufacture install instructions
cdafd do you have any data from nfpa recommending about the height?
Will look at NFPA 72, but still up to the manufacture
18.104.22.168 * Projected Beam–Type Smoke Detectors.
Projected beam–type smoke detectors shall be located in accordance with the manufacturer’s published instructions.
The effects of stratification shall be evaluated when locating the detectors.
If its just research data you are looking for go to the Fire Protection Research Foundation
Although following the code for the device installation requirements is important, it becomes more important to meet the fire protection goals of the owner. To fully understand how smoke will be transported to the detector for efficient detection to occur, is not in NFPA 72. The code advises that the designer should understand fire size and smoke travel concepts to determine whether or not the design can meet the early detection goal.
I recommend contacting the system design engineers at various smoke detection system vendors and work with them to design a system so the goals of the owner can be effectively addressed.
