Kitchen suppression electrical actuation

I am reviewing plans for a kitchen fire suppression system where the means for actuation is battery powered and the backup power source is also battery powered. Engineers are telling me that the battery life is 6 to 9 months. 2017 NFPA 17A section  and 5.3.1 allows for an electrical actuation source with a reserve power source, however it does not specify what and acceptable primary power source is. Does anyone have any clarification on what an acceptable power source is according to 2017 NFPA 17A?
