NFPA 20, DISCHARGE OF PRESSURE RELIEF VALVES

Question asked by diogofse24@hotmail.com on Aug 13, 2020

Hi, my name is Diego Sandoval and I am designing and FIRE FIGHTING SYSTEM.

I have a question related to NFPA 20. I want to know if I can return the relieves towards suction lines in FIRE PUMPS WITH DIESEL ENGINES without circulation relief valves.

According to section A.20.7.1; I can do that if I include a circulation relief valve; however, section A.13.1.8 mentions that circulation relief valves dont apply for FIRE PUMPS WITH DIESEL ENGINES.

Also, the section A.4.20.1 mentions that I can discharge in suction lines, but I am not sure if I need that circulation relief valve.

I attach a PICTURE of this case.

Sincerely

DS
