I have a office that needs to have power for a refrigerator.. Put I have only 2 options
1. run a new line to the appliance
2. run a extension cord with a gfci..
I know i can do the first one. But the second not so sure. Any answers
A refrigerator should be plugged directly into a wall outlet.
Third option,,, move refrigerator closer to an outlet.
You really don't have a choice.
2017 NEC Section 400.12(1) prohibits the use of extension cords as a substitute for the fixed wiring of a structure.
Also, take a look at the owner's manual. Manufacturers of refrigerators, air conditioners, and similar appliances typically state that the appliance must not be operated using an extension cord.
