Can someone give a definitive answer as to whether a standard galvanized malleable iron sch40 pipe fitting is considered a "Zinc-aluminum alloy?"
NFPA 54 220.127.116.11 (18.104.22.168 in the 2021 edition) states that "Zinc-aluminum alloy fittings" are not legal to use in LP gas piping. Does that refer to standard galvanized fittings which are cast out of malleable iron (which IS a permitted material), or to fittings cast out of a zinz-aluminun alloy?
Can anyone shed light on this topic? If galvanized fittings are prohibited, does anyone know why they pose a fire hazard?
