There is a product that we want to install in a ceiling in a Healthcare facility and understand the requirements of firestopping for cables but what is the permissible gap for an opening to limit the spread of smoke and fire since the product has tolerances of 1.2mm due to plastic molding. Does this airgap present a danger? Ceiling tiles are not completely airtight, nor are other openings like sprinkler heads and so on. Is an airgap of 1.2mm acceptable. Is there a code I can find this limit or defined gap distance? The product has been UL listed to meet the requirements of UL2043 so technically it could be installed in a plenum but it is installed on the ceiling tile?
