Downtown Philadelphia is 2-phase power. We need 3-phase for fire pump.
NFPA (2017) 695.3(I) does not permit "phase converters" for fire pumps.
The code book does not define "phase converters".
My reelection is that a phase converter is a mechanical (motor to generator) or electronic (inverter). Both are prone to failure. Usually single phase to 3-phase.
NFPA 695.5 allows transformers to be installed before the controller.
Is the Scott-t transformer installed before the pump controller code compliant?
