I'm interested in if it's Allowed do not instal fire detection in area if there are instaled sprinklers?
Which building code are you following?
Why do you believe detection is required for your application?
nfpa 72 doesn't include Issue if i instaled sprinklers to the hotel, i hadn't to instal a detection. so i wonder, does any nfpa code Allowed this issue?
NFPA 72 isn't a building code. Presumably you are using IBC or NFPA 101 & NFPA 5000.
If I recall correctly, NFPA 101 requires smoke detectors in all hotel suites even if there are sprinklers present. Sprinklers are usually required in a hotel.
yes, i am using IBC code, but there isn't relevant issue.
IBC will tell you where smoke detectors are required (i.e. in guest rooms and suites and in elevator lobbies). Detectors are required in these areas regardless of whether or not you have sprinklers.
If you're following IBC then it should be pretty clear as to where sprinklers are required and where detectors are required. The requirements are based on the Building Groups. In some Groups such as B & E it is mentioned that if the buildings are fully sprinklered then there is no requirement to provide Smoke Detection.
Also, as per NFPA 72, it is mentioned that the even the Sprinklers can be considered as heat detectors. The sprinkler system itself is required to be connected to a Fire Alarm Control Panel anyways via the Flow Switch and Tamper Switch to allow for building notification using the notification devices. So, the required protection is already being provided and there is no further need for any sort of detection.
However, if a Smoke Detection system has also been provided in the approved design and you plan on following the approved design then it would be advisable to provide the detectors as per NFPA 72 requirements after discussing with the AHJ for confirmation.
Hope this was useful.
