Someone said the need to install sprinklers in escalator trusses was deleted from NFPA130. Is that true?
Yes, it's true.
The 2011 version of NFPA 130 required sprinklers in escalator trusses. In subsequent revisions, this was deleted and replaced with a recommendation in the appendix which applies only to combustible stairs.
A.220.127.116.11 Escalators constructed of combustible stairs shouldbe protected with an approved automatic sprinkler or firesuppression system installed in the truss area and designed tocontrol or extinguish a fire.
Thanks sir for this great information.
